Warhorse at Lincoln Casino
With Warhorse Gaming hosting the groundbreaking ceremony of Warhorse Casino Lincoln, Lincoln residents' chance games and ability to bet on sports have reached the first significant milestone today.
The event was held at Lincoln Race Course, where the facility will be built in the future, and included remarks by Lance Morgan, president and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc. and Garald "Wally" Wollesen, president of Nebraska Horsemen.
"We're happy to get to this point," said Morgan. "While voters have come a long way since they approved the plan back in 2020, we are very excited about every opportunity Warhorse Lincoln brings to the community and look forward to delivering on our promise to keep money in Nebraska."
Construction begins with approximately 18 months of construction, leading to more than 1,100 slot machines and 100 table games, sportsbooks and casinos with live and simultaneous broadcast horse racing. The final construction will include several dining options, including luxury steak houses, sports bars and cafes. It will also include a hotel with about 200 rooms and a parking lot on the third floor.
"Nebraskaers won't have to wait any longer to find a chance to play their favorite slot," Morgan continued. "We plan to open 440 slot machines gently and in phases for early fall. Nebraska has been asking when casinos will open for a few months, so we want to give them a chance to play as soon as possible. Not to mention giving the state a much-needed property tax break."
